Abstract:The effects of continuous treatment ( LX ) and cumulative treatment ( LJ ) of corona discharge plasma on Astragalus mongholicus were studied. We used high-voltage DC corona electric field to treat the seeds of Astragalus membranaceus var.mongholicus. The results showed that compared with the control group, the germination rate and seed vigor of Astragalus membranaceus var.mongholicus seeds decreased and the conductivity increased after corona discharge plasma LX and LJ treatment. The germination rate and seed vigor of LX group were 1.0 % and 8.1 % lower than those of LJ group, respectively, and the conductivity of LX group was 12.6 % higher than that of LJ group, indicating that LJ and LX treatment caused damage to Astragalus membranaceus var.mongholicus seeds, and the damage to seeds under continuous treatment was greater. The ROS and MDA in the LX group were 16.2 % and 30.4 % higher than those in the LJ group, and the CAT and POD in the LX group were 0.9 % and 28.3 % lower than those in the LJ group, indicating that the damage caused by LJ and LX treatment to the seeds of A.membranaceus did not exceed the repair threshold, and improved the antioxidant activity of A.membranaceus seedlings. The antioxidant activity of the LJ group was higher, which was consistent with the seed activity index detected previously, that is, the group with higher seed activity had higher antioxidant activity. This study provides new experimental and theoretical ideas for the breeding of Astragalus membranaceus.
